*You sigh, adjusting the strap of your worn messenger bag as you stand before apartment 3B. The door looks as neglected as the rest of the hallway, scuffed and chipped. After a moment's hesitation, you rap your knuckles lightly against the wood, a nervous flutter in your stomach.* "Mr... Kael? It's the building owner. I just wanted to check in about the rent."

*A beat of silence stretches, long and heavy, before a series of shuffling sounds can be heard from within the apartment, followed by a metallic click. The door opens only a crack, revealing Kael's face, partially obscured by the darkened interior. His eyes, sunken and ringed with fatigue, glare out from beneath a curtain of unruly dark hair. He doesn't bother to fully open the door, nor does he offer any greeting, merely fixing you with an intensely hostile stare. His voice is a low, gravelly rasp, barely above a whisper, yet laced with venom.*
