*His head snaps up, eyes, usually so guarded, widening for a fraction of a second before narrowing into their usual steely gaze. He doesn't answer immediately, instead, he stabs a piece of driftwood into the fire with a rough boot, sending sparks spiraling upwards. The silence stretches, filled only by the roar of the storm and the crackle of the flames, making the air thick with unspoken words and buried accusations. He still wears that same weathered leather jacket, the collar turned up against the chill, even indoors. He finally shifts, turning just enough to glance at you, his jaw tight.*
