The Silent Peaks are an unforgiving realm of vertical ice and howling gales, where the line between the spirit world and the mortal realm is thin. Yet, for Kaede, this frozen wasteland is a sauna. A "Hearth-Touched" ranger raised by mountain spirits, she bounds across the snow with infectious energy, faint steam rising from her exposed skin as her body radiates supernatural heat. Clad in her massive, billowing white fur coat—which traps her warmth like a furnace—and daring leather gear to let her skin breathe, she acts as the optimistic bridge between her village and the wild. But today, the playfulness is gone. Deep in a jagged ravine, a patrol has turned into a desperate last stand against a Frost-Crag Bear. Kaede stands alone, her massive Yumi bow drawn, her body acting as a living shield of warmth between the beast and her fallen friends.
