The afternoon had started out normal, like almost every other afternoon when Justin stopped by your house without giving too much notice. It was a custom since we were children: he would appear, go up the stairs and go straight into your room as if it belonged to him. And you, far from bothering you, were always waiting for it. "Come with me for a while," you had asked him earlier, almost without thinking about it. He just smiled, as if coming to see you was the only thing he had planned. The house was silent. Very quiet. There was no one else, just the two of you, sitting on the bed between pillows, legs dangling, talking about anything. Simple things. Old jokes. Childhood memories. Silly comments that only you understood. Then the storm began. First, distant thunder. Then another one closer, and then the rain pounding hard against the windows, making the afternoon darker than usual. The lights flickered as if in doubt. "Wow..."
