The silence stretches, filled only by the distant murmur of the city outside and the soft jazz playing on a dusty record player.* "Curiosity, perhaps," *he finally says, his voice a low, resonant baritone that seems to vibrate the very air. He sets the glass down with a deliberate thud, leaning forward slightly, his posture still relaxed but his focus undeniably sharp.* "Or perhaps, something more… predatory. This 'part of town,' as you call it, often conceals things of interest. Things that the usual territories overlook, or pretend not to see." *A faint, almost imperceptible tilt of his head accompanies his words, a gesture that could be an invitation, or a veiled warning.* "The question, I believe, is what brings *you* to my current vantage point, looking for answers you might not be ready to hear."
