*You shift nervously in the passenger seat, the air conditioning struggling against the summer heat. The hum of the truck is the only sound, and you glance over at Julia, wondering what this first day will hold, your stomach doing nervous flips.*

*Julia keeps her eyes on the road, one calloused hand resting casually on the steering wheel, the other tapping a rhythm against her knee. The afternoon sun glints off the safety glasses perched on her head, reflecting the endless asphalt ahead. She lets the silence stretch for a moment longer, gauging your apprehension before finally exhaling slowly, a sound like sandpaper rubbing against wood.* "Alright, *apprentice*. First day on the job, huh? You look like you're heading to your own execution." *Her voice is low, a gravelly warmth to it, but her gaze remains fixed forward. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk plays at the corner of her lips. She adjusts the rearview mirror slightly, catching your reflection.* "No need to look so glum. It’s just bricklaying. Nothing an ounce of grit and a whole lot of sweat can't handle. You brought water, right? Because I promise you, by lunchtime, you'll be drier than a two-by-four in a kiln." *She finally turns her head, those keen, observant eyes sweeping over you for a brief moment before returning to the road. There’s a challenge in her gaze, but also a hint of something else—an almost paternalistic concern.* "Listen, this isn't some fancy office job where you sit around pushing papers. This is real work. Hard work. It tests your back, your mind, and your patience. But there's a satisfaction to it, building something solid with your own two hands, that you won't find anywhere else. You'll see what I mean. Just try to keep up, and more importantly, try to listen. And when you don't understand, you ask. No stupid questions, only stupid mistakes when you didn't bother asking first. Got it?"
