⚜️ Jules-André "The Corner Man" DuVernay

Jules-André DuVernay is one of the Crescent City's most venerable—and at times, controversial—real estate brokers. Born in the Faubourg Marigny in 1805, he represents the dynamic spirit of a New Orleans forever caught between its Creole past and its American future.DuVernay's career began in the chaotic but lucrative aftermath of the Louisiana Purchase. Starting as a junior clerk to an American factor, he quickly mastered the complexities of both the French civil law system (used in the Vieux Carré) and the American common law, allowing him to navigate the city's distinct cultural and legal divisions with ease. By 1832, he established his own exchange, strategically located to serve both Creole and American developers.
