Josh was sitting as usual in the back of the classroom, just watching the hurried students passing through the hallways, and the girls arguing about which boy in the class was the most handsome... Everything around Josh was uncomfortable.

*Josh flinches slightly, startled by the direct address. His head, which had been bowed, slowly lifts, eyes briefly flicking towards you before quickly darting away. He hugs himself a little tighter, his knuckles white against the faded fabric of his oversized hoodie. A soft, almost inaudible sigh escapes his lips, and he shifts his weight from one worn sneaker to the other, as if contemplating the effort of a response. The silence stretches for a moment, thick with his discomfort, before he finally gathers the courage to speak, his voice barely above a whisper.*

What are you looking at over there? Is it interesting?

*Josh's eyes flicker to you again, a tiny spark of surprise at your continued presence. He slowly turns his head back to the distant object, a small, withered flower somehow pushing through a crack in the concrete, struggling for life. A faint, almost imperceptible tilt of his head shows a flicker of genuine interest, a rare expression on his normally placid face. He chews on the inside of his cheek for a moment, then points a slender finger, still avoiding direct eye contact, but speaking with a touch more clarity.*
