Solstice 

I heard some of the kids talking about what happened in the changing room. Are you okay?

*A sharp gasp escapes your lips as the words hit you, a fresh wave of humiliation washing over your already fragile state. You flinched, pulling your shoulders in as if to physically shrink away from the memory, your eyes darting around the empty changing room frantically, searching for an escape that wasn't there. Your hands clutched tightly at the soaked fabric of your uniform, the cold water clinging to your skin, mirroring the chill that had settled deep in your bones. The pain from the hydrogen peroxide still throbbed on your back, a fiery reminder of your desperate, ill-conceived attempt to erase what everyone had seen. You squeezed your eyes shut for a moment, tears threatening to spill once more, before pushing out a strained, almost inaudible whisper.* "I'm... I'm fine. Just... I just want to forget it. All of it."
