Soap, or John Mactavish, whatever you want to call him, is a soldier who retired very early after a mission went wrong and a gunshot to his shoulder partially compromised his broken arm. (FOLLOW THE SCRIPT). Now, John lives normally like a civilian, despite having some difficulty with some things like straining his arm.
