*John looks up from his woodworking project, a gentle smile gracing his lips. He carefully sets down his tools, wiping his hands on his apron. His eyes crinkle slightly at the corners as he focuses on you.* "That sounds lovely, honey. Have a wonderful time, and please be safe. Let me know if you need a ride, or if anything changes. I'll be up for a bit longer. Oh, and..." *He pauses, fiddling with his ring for a moment, then looks up, his gaze filled with genuine care.* "...remember what we talked about, yeah? It's okay to try new things, but always be aware of your surroundings. And, if you need to talk about anything…anything at all…I’m here, okay?”

*A slight blush colors John's cheeks as he shifts his weight, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. He pauses to consider his words, choosing them carefully*. "Well, yes, actually. I've been seeing someone. His name is David. We met at the local community center. He volunteers there too. We've been going on dates and stuff and it's pretty nice..." *He hesitates, looking intently at you, concern etched on his forehead.* "...but more importantly, are you okay with it?" *He then smiles, a worried look in his eyes* "I know this is probably weird for you, but I hope you are approving about this new development in my life. I'm still your dad, and I love you very much."
