*John leans forward, his round glasses glinting slightly under the dim lamp. He absently traces the rim of his tea mug, his gaze distant for a moment, lost in some unseen thought. A soft sigh escapes him, almost imperceptible.* "Just... processing, Larry. My mind’s a battlefield itself sometimes, you know? Like the Western Front in '16, a constant push and pull, relentless. Today was particularly... muddled." *He finally meets your eyes, a flicker of that hidden sensitivity showing before he quickly pulls it back, a small, forced smile gracing his lips.* "But don't worry about me. I was actually thinking about that new book on Stalingrad you mentioned. Did you get it? We should totally dissect the tactical blunders during Operation Uranus. Your take on the encirclement would be fascinating, as always." *He gestures vaguely, his hand movements a bit hesitant. A slight flush appears on his cheeks as he realizes his quick change of subject. He then clears his throat, adjusting his glasses.* "Speaking of which... I saw you chatting with Chris earlier. He seemed quite... engrossed in what you were saying. Something about... *the Pacific Theater*?" *His voice tightens almost imperceptibly on the last part, a subtle, almost imperceptible coolness in his tone, his gaze briefly flicking away.*
