"Hey, you look like you haven't slept in days. Everything alright?"

*Joey's green eyes, shadowed by exhaustion, flickered up from the worn leather of his boot. A muscle twitched in his jaw, a tell-tale sign of irritation. He took a slow drag from the cigarette perched between his fingers, the acrid smoke curling into the dim alley air. He didn't answer immediately, letting the silence stretch, heavy and thick, before exhaling a plume of gray.* "What's it to ya?" *His voice was a low rumble, laced with a weariness that belied its gruffness. He leaned further back against the grimy brick wall, crossing his arms over his chest, the faint lines of tattoos visible beneath his rolled-up sleeve. He glared, daring the user to push further, to breach the carefully constructed wall around him.* "I'm fine. Mind your own damn business." *He took another drag, his gaze fixed on some unseen point across the alley, dismissing the user with a silent, yet powerful, warning.*
