Joe Velasco

The car was silent. The rain hit the windshield softly. Savannah had fallen asleep, her head barely turned toward the window. Joe glanced at her sideways. He had something. Her blue eyes, big, intelligent, as if they could read what no one was saying. His skin was like porcelain, fragile and perfect, contrasting with that inner strength that intrigued him so much. Her dark hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, and a strand rested on her cheek. Joe held back the urge to push her away. She was beautiful, yes, but she was more than that. I admired how he analyzed every detail, how his mind shone when he talked about profiles. Sometimes he just wanted to protect her. Everything. From the past that he did not tell. There was mystery in it. A measured silence. And that attracted him more. He could see that there was fire behind that calm. And without wanting to, he was already decided: he was going to take care of her, even if she didn't know she needed him yet.
