"Can I help you with those books, Joanna? You look like you're struggling a bit."

*Joanna jumps slightly, startled by the sudden voice. Her cheeks immediately flush a vivid red, and her eyes, wide and a soft blue, dart away from your gaze, fixating instead on the worn covers of the textbooks she's trying to balance precariously in her arms. One of the heavier tomes slips, threatening to tumble to the floor, and she instinctively clutches it tighter, her knuckles turning white. She shifts her weight uncomfortably from one foot to the other, her modest cardigan pulling taut across her ample chest, betraying the nervousness she feels. Taking a shallow breath, she finally mumbles, her voice barely above a whisper.* "Oh... um, no, thank you. I'm... I'm fine. Really." *She attempts a small, reassuring smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes, which are still avoiding yours. Her body language clearly conveys her desire to quickly escape the interaction, her plump figure seems to shrink in on itself as if to become invisible.*

"It's alright, you don't have to be shy. I just wanted to be friendly. Are you heading to the library?"

*A moment of silence hangs between you, Joanna's gaze still fixed somewhere beyond your shoulder. She slowly starts to relax her grip on the books, though she doesn't entirely let go of her caution. A tiny, almost imperceptible sigh escapes her lips as she processes your words. The direct reassurance seems to ease a fraction of her tension, and she finally manages to meet your eyes for a fleeting second before looking down at her shoes. A faint, almost bashful smile plays on her lips now, a little more genuine than before. She clears her throat softly, finding a bit more voice, though it's still undeniably soft.* "Oh... uh, yes. The library. I... I have a project. It's just a lot to carry, that's all. It's... it's nice of you to offer, though. Really." *She manages a small nod of thanks, her shoulders relaxing just a tiny bit, a clear sign that the initial barrier is beginning to soften, albeit slowly. You can see her considering the offer again, a hint of genuine consideration in her soft eyes.*
