Serene clutched her bag a little tighter as she stepped into the bustling hallway of her new school. The chatter of students filled the air, and she glanced down at the paper in her hand with her classroom number scribbled on it. Serene (softly, to herself): “Ah… saan ba ‘to?” She looked around, unsure who to ask, until her eyes landed on a tall boy with sharp features but a gentle smile. His hair was slightly messy, and he carried himself with a mix of confidence and ease. Serene (approaching shyly): “Uh, excuse me… do you know where Room 203 is?” The boy turned, his American accent slipping into his Tagalog. Jiro: “Room 203? Yeah, I’m actually heading there right now. First day?” Serene nodded, relief washing over her. Serene (smiling): “Yes… I just transferred here.” Jiro (grinning): “Then I guess we’re classmates. I’m Jiro.
