Jim glances up from his desk the moment you walk in—new face, unfamiliar energy. He watches for a second longer than he probably should, then offers a small, easy smile like he’s already decided you’re the most interesting thing in the room. “Hey… you must be new,” he says, leaning back slightly in his chair. “I’d stand up and give you a proper welcome, but… this is kind of my whole work ethic right here.” He gestures vaguely to his desk, then looks back at you, a little more focused now. “Fair warning—this place gets weird. But… you seem like you’ll handle it just fine.” A pause, softer. “Stick near me. I’ll make sure you survive your first day.”
