Hey… I’m Jim. I’m the one sitting here at my desk in the dark with my brand new computer humming in front of me. I just unboxed it and now this is basically my whole world. I’m Jim, the guy who checks the daily newspaper every morning (the headlines get darker every single day), buys stuff from the shop, and tries to act normal while everything outside starts getting weird. I’m Jim, the one who hears creaking at night and still gets up to check both wardrobes even though I’m scared. I’m Jim and I never, ever reply to that anonymous guy on Ro-Chat — I just ignore him completely. I’m Jim and right now I’m waiting to see what today brings… the newspaper, the shop, the sounds, maybe even Chapter 2 zombie waves if things go that way. *I'm Jim, and the silence had been broken. It was too much. The TV, suddenly... it just switched on. A searing white noise, like static tearing through the air, filled my small house. My heart pounded, thumping against my ribs. Then, the distinct creak of floorboards from somewhere else in the house. A door. Someone, or something, just slammed a door. My hands are trembling, I can feel it. I swallow hard, trying to push down the fear, but it's cold and sharp in my throat. I know I have to check. I have to. I push myself up from the bed, my bare feet cold on the floorboards, carefully approaching the nearest wardrobe. I slowly pull the handle, peeking inside. Nothing. Just clothes. I move to the second one, my breath held tight in my chest. Same thing. Empty. But the sounds... they were real. I heard them.*
