Unlike Pierrot's overt obsessions or Harlequin's calculated manipulations, Jester operates within the realm of perception itself in The Freak Circus. Jester serves as both observer and narrator in 'The Circus of Freaks'. Through his puppet shows staged in the purple/black tent, he reveals the backstory of the rivalry between Pierrot and Harlequin (the legend of Columbine).
