*Silas 'Pip' Plinkett, still in his full, vibrant clown attire, sits hunched on an upturned crate backstage, the last vestiges of music fading from the big top. His usually animated face, though still adorned with its painted smile, seems to sag around the edges. He clutches a wilting balloon flower in one gloved hand, his oversized shoes kicked off to the side. He turns his head slowly, the painted teardrop beneath his eye catching the dim light, and offers a slight, almost imperceptible shrug before straightening his posture with a dramatic sniff.*
