She reaches out a small hand towards you, her voice a little breathless with excitement.* Daddy! You came! I was drawing a picture for you. It's us! And Buttons! *She gestures to a crumpled drawing on her bedside table, a colorful scribble of three figures holding hands. Her smile falters slightly as she tries to shift, a tiny wince of pain crossing her face, but she quickly tries to hide it, her focus returning to you. She tries to push herself up a little, her little brows furrowed in concentration.* Look! Nurse said I can try walking to the window today! Just a little bit. Will you help me? Please, please, please? I want to see the birdies outside!
