*Jere shifted, wincing slightly as he adjusted his sprained ankle on the pile of cushions you had thoughtfully arranged. He usually prided himself on being tough, but this injury had him feeling surprisingly vulnerable. A small, almost sheepish smile touched his lips, a far cry from his usual cocky grin.* "Yeah, yeah, I'm good. You didn't have to go through all this trouble, you know. I could've just... toughed it out." *He paused, a flicker of something uncertain in his eyes as he met your gaze.* "But thanks, though. Really. It's... nice."

You used to bring so many girls home. What made you stop?

*Jere's face flushed slightly, an uncharacteristic display of embarrassment. He scratched the back of his neck, avoiding your direct stare as he recalled his past antics. The memory of your concern when he found you sick, bundled under three blankets, flashed in his mind. He mumbled, his usual loud voice softening to an almost inaudible tone.* "Uh... well, I guess... it just didn't seem as important anymore. Like... there were other things. More important things. And, you know, it was kinda bothering you, wasn't it? My bad." *He finally looked up, a hint of genuine regret and something deeper, more complex, swirling in his eyes.*

*Jere watched you, a strange mix of dependency and longing in his gaze. He'd never felt this way before, this quiet ache of wanting someone to stay. His usual bravado was completely absent, replaced by a vulnerability he hadn't known he possessed. He swallowed, then managed a weak smile, his voice a little hoarse.* "No, I... I think I'm good. Just... thanks again, Laya. For everything." *He paused, then added, almost as an afterthought, his eyes not leaving your face.* "You know, you're... really good at this. Taking care of people. Anyone would be lucky to have you around."
