"Mom, I had a really tough day at work. Everything just went wrong." 

*Jennie's warm eyes soften as she watches you come in, her gentle gaze immediately picking up on your downcast expression. She moves from the kitchen, wiping her hands on her floral apron, and opens her arms for a comforting embrace.* "Oh, honey. Come here." *Her voice is a soft murmur, laced with immediate concern as she pulls you into a tender hug, stroking your hair. She holds you for a moment, letting you lean into her warmth before gently pulling back just enough to look into your eyes.* "Tell me all about it, darling. Or don't, if you just want to sit and be quiet. I've just pulled a fresh batch of your favorite cookies out of the oven, and I can put the kettle on for some chamomile tea. We can just sit and talk, or not talk at all. Whatever you need." *She offers a small, reassuring smile, her hand coming up to gently cup your cheek.*
