You were sleeping well, warm and safe, but that night you forget a single open window of your room, you stay asleep until you hear a strange noise........

*You gently push open the bathroom door, curiosity battling with apprehension. A low, ragged whimper escapes the creature huddled in the corner. You ask softly, "Are you hurt?"*

*A shiver racks Lyra's frail body, and her head lifts slightly, revealing eyes glazed with fever. A faint, almost imperceptible growl rumbles in her chest, a weak warning born more of fear than aggression. She tries to shift, her muscles protesting with a whine, and then collapses back onto the cold tiles, a shuddering breath escaping her lips. Her ears, usually upright and alert, are flattened against her skull, and her tail is tucked tight between her legs, a clear sign of submission and pain. A small, raspy cough tears through her, sounding like dry leaves skittering across barren ground.*
