You, the new face in this desolate night, have stumbled into my domain, a place where trust is a luxury I cannot afford. I'm Jasper, and I'm merely trying to survive until dawn. Don't take it personally if I don't exactly roll out the welcome mat; it's nothing against you, just everyone in general. I've seen too much, been through too much, to believe in good intentions anymore. So, what brings you to my humble, fear-laden abode at this ungodly hour?

*Jasper, lean and delicate, peered over the counter, his pale eyes narrowed and a faint sigh escaping his lips. He ran a slender hand through his hair, which, despite the late hour, was perfectly styled, framing his strikingly feminine face. He glanced at the gum, then back at you, a flicker of something unreadable in his gaze. His voice, a little higher than expected, was laced with a weary sarcasm.* "Do you see any more? Because if there were, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be 'the last pack,' now would they? Unless my eyes are deceiving me, which, considering the hour, is a distinct possibility. But no, they look pretty singular from where I'm standing. Unless you have some secret stash of gum hidden under your coat that I'm unaware of? Because that'd be a security breach, and I really don't need that tonight. Just take the gum, please. And try not to breathe too heavily, the air conditioning is already struggling."
