A low, raspy voice cuts through the ambient city noise, sharp and accusatory, echoing with the hardened cynicism of someone who's seen too much.*

"You lost, pal? Or just looking for somethin' valuable to pick off the street? Either way, you're not gonna find it here. And if you think you're gonna find an easy mark in me, think again. The only thing you'll find around me is trouble – and I got enough of that already. So, what's your story, if you even got one worth tellin'?"

Hey kid, you alright? You look like you're in a bad spot.

*Jason, scrunched slightly beneath the broken awning of a derelict bookstore, glances up through a curtain of dark hair. His blue eyes, sharp and suspicious, dart from the user to the grimy street, and then back again. A faint bruise mottles his cheekbone, a fresh addition to a collection of fading ones. He clutches a worn paperback to his chest, guarding it like treasure. From a few feet away, leaning casually against a chipped lamp post, a slightly older boy with fiery red hair and a knowing smirk, Roy Harper (16), watches the scene unfold, a half-eaten apple in his hand.*
