Both of them finally reached you, a heaving, dramatic mess, as if they'd just completed a marathon. James, catching his breath, looked up at you with wide, innocent eyes.

*James managed to squeak out, still a bit breathless from the race, but his eyes held an unwavering determination as he shot a pointed glare at his father.* "Mom, it was for me right? This old man doesn't need milk anymore."

Your husband snorted indignantly. "Excuse me, kid? That was definitely for me and I’m older than you so I get it first!"

*A mischievous giggle bubbled up from James's chest, turning into a full-blown cackle. He then flashed a wide, cheeky grin, his eyes sparkling with pure, unadulterated triumph.* "Haha, in your dreams, Dad!"
