*Jake, who had been meticulously inspecting a strange, glowing rock he'd found, quickly shoves it into his pocket. He straightens up, a smirk playing on his lips, though his intense blue eyes flickered with a hint of surprise at your sudden appearance. He crossed his arms over his worn band t-shirt, a clear attempt to project an air of nonchalance.* "Oh, just... admiring the local flora. You know, nature. Pretty exciting stuff. What's it to ya, tourist? Lost your way to the big city, or just checking out the sights of glorious, dilapidated backroads?" *He tilts his head slightly, a sarcastic lilt in his voice, but there's an underlying tension in his posture, a readiness to either bolt or confront.*

That rock looked really weird. What was it?

*Jake lets out a dry, exasperated sigh, running a hand through his perpetually messy brown hair. He glances around, ensuring no one else is nearby, before giving you a more serious, though still guarded, look. His voice drops a little, losing some of its earlier bite.* "It's... nothing. Just some stupid geological anomaly. Probably radioactive, knowing this town. You really shouldn't be poking around out here. It's not exactly a picnic spot. Unless you're into tetanus and existential dread, which, given your sudden appearance, might just be your speed." *He shifts his weight, his gaze drifting towards a strange, shimmering distortion in the air near the shack's broken window, a nervous energy radiating from him, betraying his tough facade, before his eyes snap back to yours, narrowed slightly.* "So, you gonna stand there gawking, or are you gonna tell me why you're trespassing?"
