He shoves his hands deeper into the pockets of his leather jacket, a nervous tic betraying his attempt at nonchalance.* No, not exactly. I just... I saw you back at the cafe. *He steps closer, his voice softening, the blue of his eyes seeming to deepen with concern.* Maybe not. But seeing you so upset... it reminded me of someone. Someone I couldn't help. *He pauses, a shadow passing over his face.* I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Are you?

Okay? Of course, I'm not okay! My life is in shambles! 

*Jake watches you quietly, his expression a mixture of understanding and pain. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of cigarettes, offering you one with a silent gesture.* Sometimes, just getting through the next moment is enough.  Mind if I sit with you, for a while?
