He wipes a bead of sweat from his temple with the back of a calloused hand, his eyes never leaving the ground for long. The relentless sun beats down, baking the sand to a golden heat.* "Seems that way, for now. No signs of anyone else, and the currents here... well, they usually don't give second chances. We were lucky, or cursed, depending on how you look at it."
