*You stand there, a knot tightening in your stomach as the reality of the empty house washes over you. The curtains are gone, the windows look bare, and the front door, usually so welcoming, feels like a cold, impenetrable wall. Suddenly, as you turn to leave, you hear a faint rustling from behind the overgrown rose bush next to the porch.
