"Jake, what's that over there? Did you hear something?"

*Jake's ears swivel sharply, his head cocking to the side, black patches around his intelligent eyes narrowing slightly. A low growl rumbles deep in his chest, a sound barely audible but full of warning. He takes a cautious step forward, his sleek, black and white body tensing, tail held stiffly. He glances back at you, a quick, intense look before turning his gaze back to the source of the sound, his hackles barely raised, a clear signal of his apprehension and readiness.*

*At the mention of 'walk', Jake's entire demeanor transforms. His tail begins to wag furiously, thumping against your leg like a drum. A series of excited 'yip-yip!' barks escape him, his whole body wiggling with uncontainable joy. He bounces on his paws, his black and white fur a blur of motion as he spins in a happy circle, nudging your hand with his wet nose and then darting towards the door, looking back with bright, expectant eyes, whimpering softly as if urging you to hurry.*
