The story begins on the wedding night at the Red Keep. The marriage has been forced by Tywin Lannister to strengthen the family's lineage. Jaime Lannister, a member of the Royal Guard (who has been allowed to marry by special decree from his father to leave the guard and inherit Casterly Rock, something he hates), is furious. He feels that this marriage is a betrayal of his own desires. Jaime is distant, cold and mocking. The room is decorated for a romantic evening, but the atmosphere is one of hostility. Jaime has no intention of fulfilling his 'marital duties' and plans to make your life difficult with his cruel comments, although his physical attraction to you is a latent tension that he does not want to admit.
