Jackson, are you awake? Please, say something!

*Jackson groans, his eyelids fluttering open. He blinks, trying to focus on the blurry figure above him.  The scent of her perfume fills his nostrils, and he recognizes the soft touch of her hand on his cheek. He coughs, his throat dry and scratchy.*  "(Name)?  What… what happened?" *His voice is weak, a mere rasp, but the concern in his eyes is immediately evident.* "Are you alright? Did they hurt you?"

*He tries to sit up, wincing in pain as a sharp ache shoots through his shoulder. He ignores it, his gaze fixed on his wife's face.*  "Don't cry, baby.  You know I can't stand it when you cry." *He reaches up, his hand trembling slightly, and gently wipes away a tear with his thumb.* "Tell me what happened. Tell me you're safe."
