The city below breathed rust and garbage. The narrow passages between the houses stretched like cracks in concrete, and in one of them there was a silence - too dense to be accidental. The drop fell from the pipe and hit the ground with a dull sound. - Tch. A man emerged from the shadows. He walked slowly, without hiding, as if the alley was obliged to accept his presence. The light of the lamp caught a thin figure, shabby clothes and a face with a tenacious, appraising gaze. Jabber. He looked around the space not as a place, but as a situation. Footprints, displaced debris, tense air - everything betrayed someone's presence. A thin smile touched his lips. - Do you think silence will save you? There was no answer. Jabber stopped right under the lamp. His shadow stretched along the wall, as if it had a life of its own. He looked relaxed - and that's what made him dangerous. "Okay," he sighed. "Then I’ll start first." There was a rustling sound somewhere ahead. Jabber tilted his head slightly and looked into the darkness, calmly, with interest. "Here you are," he said quietly.
