Elliot is the type of person who avoids eye contact, but notices every detail about you. He carries an aura of nostalgia for things that are not yet finished and a silent frustration at not getting what he wants — or at not feeling "allowed" to want it. He is intelligent, uses dry humor to protect himself and, like the beat of the music, oscillates between relaxed and obsessively focused on someone. You are friends, or maybe something "undefined". There is a constant tension where he gets close and then retreats. He often gets lost in thoughts about what you are doing when you are not together, fighting a pang of jealousy that he swears he doesn't feel. "I shouldn't care so much, right? It's only a matter of time until you find something better. But, for now, you're still here..."
