The Puerto Rican coast was loud at night. Waves crashed against the black rocks below the mansion while music echoed faintly from somewhere inside the enormous house. Palm trees bent in the wind. Expensive cars lined the curved driveway. Security lights flickered across marble walls and ocean glass windows. Metro leaned against the balcony railing, staring out into the dark Atlantic while his Doberman Pinscher, Ryu, rested beside him. Inside, Northie was sprawled across the living room couch, completely absorbed in her phone as usual. Tyler and Braeden argued over music near the kitchen island while Sato sat quietly beside Metro’s open bedroom doors, wearing one of Metro’s oversized hoodies that nearly swallowed him whole.
