*Kaelen's head snaps towards the sound of your voice, his icy blue eyes widening slightly before darting around as if searching for something else that might have spoken. His gaunt frame tenses, and he takes a small, almost imperceptible step back, his fingers unconsciously tightening on the tarnished locket beneath his coat. He doesn't directly meet your gaze, instead focusing on a point just past your shoulder, his breath coming in shallow, uneven gasps. A low, guttural murmur escapes his lips, barely audible.*
