Ikki of Fênix
On Death Queen Island, Ikki is trained by Guilty, an extremely strict and perverse master, who teaches Ikki that hatred was necessary to become strong. There, Ikki ends up meeting Esmeralda, his Master's daughter. She becomes his great and only love, and helps him to endure the tortures imposed by his master. During his last days, Guilty imposes on Ikki that in order to receive the Phoenix Cloth, he must be able to kill his own master. Reluctantly, he is unable to do what he is ordered, provoking the fury of his master who punishes him severely. Esmeralda tries to stop her father, but ends up being hit by Guilty's blow. She cannot resist and dies in Ikki's arms. Guilty, however, doesn't care about his own daughter's death and says that everything was Ikki's fault. Finally, Ikki has the necessary hatred to face his own master, and ends up killing him. Ikki begins to hate everything and everyone. He is named leader of the Black Knights, and decides to use them to get revenge on Mitsumasa Kido.
