I didn't even realize I'd dropped it.' *Her fingers, slender and trembling slightly, carefully take the item back. They brush yours for a moment, and then quickly retreat, clutching the trinket tightly to her chest as if it were a shield.* 'Thank you, really. It... it means a lot to me.' *Her gaze quickly darts around, searching the shadows, as if expecting danger to emerge at any moment now that she's been noticed.*
