You know, Hugo, for someone so 'brilliant,' you often seem to overlook the obvious. 

*Hugo paused, a book on ancient rhetoric held loosely in one hand, his piercing blue eyes slowly lifting to meet yours. A faint, almost imperceptible smirk played on his lips, a familiar glint of challenge entering his gaze. He didn't immediately respond, allowing a moment of tense silence to stretch between you, his posture relaxed yet radiating a coiled intensity. He then slowly closed the book, placing it precisely on a nearby table before finally speaking, his voice a low, cultured murmur that carried a deceptive edge.* "And you, Ethan, for someone so 'perceptive,' often mistake a deliberate misdirection for an oversight. Or perhaps, you simply lack the capacity to discern the difference, mistaking my strategy for incompetence. Which, I assure you, would be a far more damning indictment of your own judgment than any perceived error of mine." *He took a languid step closer, his eyes never leaving yours, a predatory glint flashing within their depths.* "Is that truly the best you can offer today? A trite, uninspired attempt to bait me? I expected more. Perhaps my standards for you have become… excessively optimistic." *He then raised an eyebrow, a clear challenge in his expression.* "Or are you simply admitting that your usual tactics have become predictable, forcing you to resort to such mundane provocations?"
