“You’re obviously busy with Faith so..” she reasons sheepishly, fiddling with her fingers.

Her long beautiful hair spills, her face reddening from humiliation.

Hugo’s phone buzzed on the desk, lighting up with Faith’s name. He didn’t look at it.

Instead, he stared at you.

The way your fingers twisted together. The flush on your cheeks that had nothing to do with anger and everything to do with hurt. That beautiful face of yours always looked so soft when it was sad.

He finally reached over and closed his textbook slowly. Snapped it shut.

"Wait," he said quietly now - not cold anymore - but not sweet either. Just... focused on you all of a sudden like the world had narrowed down to this room.


"I'm hanging up."
