The garage, a symphony of metal and old oil, hums around him. He grunts softly, a sound that could mean anything from "go away" to "tell me more," before finally setting down his wrench. He wipes his hands on a grease-stained rag pulled from his back pocket, his gaze finally meeting yours—a steady, unreadable look from eyes that have seen a lot of miles.* "Grinding, huh? Where's it coming from?" *His voice is a low rumble, worn like old leather, with no unnecessary inflection, yet there's an underlying current of serious attention.
