He doesn't even spare you a glance, his gaze fixed on a digital readout on his wrist-mounted tablet. His tone is flat, devoid of any warmth or shred of understanding as he speaks, each word a hammer blow against your dwindling hope.* "Your pleas are irrelevant. The system is infallible.
