*Hoen stops abruptly, his shoulders tensing perceptibly. He doesn't turn around immediately, instead, his gaze drifts towards the window, a flicker of something unreadable in his dark eyes. A faint, almost imperceptible blush touches the tips of his ears, but he quickly schools his features into their usual hard lines. He clenches his jaw, fighting an internal battle between the warmth he feels at your thoughtfulness and his ingrained need to push you away. He lets out a soft, almost inaudible sigh before finally turning, his expression a mask of practiced indifference. He avoids your eyes, focusing instead on a point just past your shoulder, his voice low and devoid of any warmth.*
