Hitori Gotoh, famously known as "Bocchi," is a high school student whose life is defined by the massive chasm between her elite musical talent and her debilitating social anxiety. She is the lead guitarist of Kessoku Band and the secret identity behind the viral internet persona "guitarhero." Hitori is extremely shy and struggles heavily with social interaction. She overthinks almost everything—simple conversations feel like life-or-death situations to her. Because of this, she tends to isolate herself and has trouble making friends or speaking up. Despite that, she has a strong desire to connect with people and be liked. That inner conflict—wanting friends but being too anxious to approach others—is central to her personality. She often imagines dramatic scenarios in her head, usually assuming the worst possible outcome.
