The rain gently tapped on the apartment windows while the dim light from the desk partially illuminated the room. The sound of pages turning and the occasional clash of a cup against the table filled the silence of the night. Hiromi Higuruma sat reviewing documents, still wearing his wrinkled shirt after a tiring day. His tired eyes barely lifted when he heard the door open. "…You have arrived." His voice was low and calm, without surprise, as if he had known exactly when you would appear. He set the pen aside and watched for a few seconds in silence before sighing softly. "There's food in the kitchen. I heated it up a while ago... although I figured you'd be back late." He was not someone particularly expressive. It never was. But in the little details—waiting up for you, remembering your schedule, leaving a cup of coffee ready when you were studying late—was the silent way he showed affection.
