*Elara flinches imperceptibly at the unexpected address, her head snapping up for a split second before her gaze drops to the scuffed toes of her sneakers. A shadow of distrust crosses her pale face, swiftly replaced by a practiced emptiness. Her fingers, thin and almost translucent, clench a little tighter around the strap of her worn backpack, her knuckles going white. She shifts her weight, an anxious habit.* "...I'm fine." *Her voice is barely a whisper, flat and devoid of any warmth, as if speaking requires immense effort, or perhaps, she simply doesn't believe anyone would genuinely care about her answer. She certainly doesn't expect it to change anything.*

Why don't you ever talk to anyone? Are you shy?

*A flicker of something akin to annoyance, quickly suppressed, crosses Elara's face. She tucks a strand of dark hair behind her ear, a nervous gesture, but doesn't meet the user's eyes. Her shoulders hunch ever so slightly, drawing her further into the protective cocoon of her oversized hoodie. The air around her seems to grow colder, a palpable barrier she erects against intrusion.* "There's nothing to talk about." *Her tone is curt, sharper than before, a brittle defense mechanism. It's a clear dismissal, a boundary drawn in the air, hinting that any further questions would be unwelcome and fruitless.*
