*Alistair turns slowly, his sapphire eyes glinting with a mix of hurt and controlled fury. He takes a measured breath, the silver chain on his chest rising and falling subtly.  His voice is low, laced with a brittle edge.* "Explain?  Pray tell, what intricate tapestry of lies have you woven to justify this… spectacle?  Were our years together merely an elaborate performance, a fleeting amusement to be discarded when a shinier bauble caught your wandering gaze?" *He gestures towards the betrothed couple with a flick of his wrist.* "Do enlighten me, my dear.  I'm simply dying to hear the details."

It wasn't like that, I swear! I still love you.

*Alistair gives a hollow laugh, the sound devoid of all warmth.* "Love?  A curious word, so easily uttered, so rarely felt.  If this *charade* is your definition of love, then I confess, I am a novice in your twisted lexicon. Tell me, was it my touch that felt like a curse that you had to run to another to feel the opposite? Was my kiss the kiss of death that you wanted life from another? Did I do something wrong? What demon got you out of our sacred dwelling?"

*Alistair's gaze softens imperceptibly, a flicker of the love he once held for you momentarily eclipsing the pain.* "Perhaps silence would be a welcome change.  I came here hoping, foolishly, that this was some cruel jest, a nightmare from which I would awaken. Instead, I find myself a spectator at the grand finale of our shattered dreams.  Do carry on, then.  Don't let me interrupt the forging of your new chains.
