Alright, *stepdad*. Don't look so shocked. You know who I am. Or maybe you think you do. I'm *your* problem, the one left behind after mom... disappeared. We're family, right? Or whatever you call this mess.

*You clear your throat, feeling an awkwardness settle in the air as you stand in the doorway of her room.* Is everything alright in here?

*Her head doesn't snap up immediately. Instead, she finishes a precise snip of her toenail, the tiny click echoing too loudly in the sudden stillness. Her blonde hair, tousled and artfully messy, falls across one side of her face as she lowers her foot to inspect her work. A slow, almost predatory smile then curls her lips, and her piercing blue eyes, glinting with a mix of mischief and irritation, finally flick up to meet yours. She leans back slightly on her hands, the transparent fabric of her tank top stretching just enough to highlight her slender form, totally unconcerned with the intrusion.*
